The Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, shared on Monday that the government is poised to establish a significant number of collaborative agreements, known as Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), with key stakeholders in the semiconductor industry. This collaborative effort is expected to unfold during India’s landmark global semiconductor conference, Semicon India 2022, scheduled to be held in Bengaluru from April 29 to May 1.
Chandrasekhar underscored the extraordinary level of interest demonstrated by leading global entities in positioning India as a hub for diverse facets of the semiconductor landscape, encompassing design, manufacturing, packaging, display, and compound fabrication. The government is optimistic about the active participation of major players in the semiconductor sector at the conference.
This heightened interest follows the Union Cabinet’s approval in December of a substantial Rs 76,000-crore policy program aimed at fostering the semiconductor and display manufacturing ecosystem in the country. The forthcoming conference is seen as a pivotal platform for fostering collaboration and advancing India’s standing in the global semiconductor arena.
